Less than a week to go. I can barely contain myself. This could be unhealthy and almost positive job performance will be affected, but what can you do?
I'll have a more consistent stream of posts coming through with the start of the season. There will be a weekly predictions, where I'll be using the ESPN Pick'Em poll games each week to make my predicitions. I'm considering setting up an account with one of the sports betting sites and betting on those predictions each week. This will make me put my money where my mouth is. If so, I'll have the season long winnings (more like losses) posted somewhere on the site.
I'm thinking of starting a pick'em pool against the spread, so if I don't know you and you actually read this blog, send me an email if you're interested. If you do know me, expect some emails this week. For anyone that is interested, the talented guys over The Solid Verbal have two pools this season: ESPN Pick'Em and Pick'Em Spread Pool
There will be a post following the rankings updates, where I'll look at some of the strange votes that occur each week. It always happens, no one can explain it, and these people are idiots, but I'll show that throughout the season.
I also plan on attending a ton of games this year. Right now, tentatively, I'll be hitting the WVU/JMU game at FedEx, VT/Cinci at FedEx, a Tennessee game either against Akron or Alabama ($$$), Wisconsin/OSU out in Madison, VT/FSU game for the Thursday night primetime slot in Blacksburg, I'd like to hit a Navy game, maybe a Delaware or Towson game if they can be competitive, the military bowl, and hopefully a WVU BCS bowl. Each game I attend I'll break it down, update the tailgating scene, and just give my two cents for what it's worth.
It's going to be a wild ride! The storylines are a plenty, the matchups are huge, and the stakes couldn't be higher for several programs. Can A&M successfully make the transition to the SEC? Is WVU a legitimate threat to Oklahoma and Texas? Can USC rebound so quickly? Is Kiffin that brilliant? When will the SEC reign end? I'm pumped for the season, so join me this season as we get ready to bring down the posts!
